SOME WORDS FROM THE MAYOR

Narrow streets, covered, winding, places with fountains and platane-trees, typical of the French South, mansions opening through beautiful gates hiding serpentine stairs.
Unique and picturesque landscape with its "sea of rocks", a place walker’s love. nearby, the "aven" (natural pit) gives birth, under the village, to the underground lake, overflowing from time to time, like a mountain spring, in the Vidourle at the "fons de saouve", changing the quiet stream in a wild, destructing wave of muddy water, which, in a few hours of autumnal "Vidourlades" (sudden & violent floods), may cover enormous surfaces of land and fields.
A reminder of a glorious past, a witness of its political and economical domination on the region around, by the influence and masterworks of famous names in the history of France.
Touchy on its know-how, unique in France and probably in Europe, Sauve will allow you to discover culture and making of three-pitched forks in micocoulier wood, by visiting its manufacture, adorned by a modern interpretation centre of the "garrigue" (southern sort of bush), well-equipped with computers, to give you an impressive documentation.
This taste for creation, know-how, as well as the patrimonial richness of the village, have inspired many creators and craftsmen, who willingly will open their shops and workshops for you.
Accommodation, through bed & breakfast places, city hostage, hotels, holiday resort, restaurants, cafés, and tourist information office will provide you an all comfort and peaceful stay in their beautiful city: Sauve.
The mayor and his team, the inhabitants, the associations, alive and attractive from their art, culture and leisure involvement are happy to welcome you in this attractive village, located at the very foot of the Cévennes: Sauve.
